Between riverfront areas and old rural roads, this stage crosses the municipalities of Loures and Vila Franca de Xira, in a territory where the river defines both the route and the landscape. In Sacavém, the Ceramics Museum preserves the memory of the former Fábrica de Loiça (ceramics factory) and bears witness to the region’s industrial importance.
Following the river along the boardwalk on its bank, the path continues to the Santa Iria da Azoia Urban Park. Here stands the museum center A Póvoa e o Rio (The Village and the River), an interpretative space that preserves the material and immaterial heritage of the local fishing communities connected to the Tagus river.
In Alverca, the highlights are the Air Museum complex and the Church of Pastorinhos; in Alhandra, the Dr. Sousa Martins House Museum and the Church of São João Baptista. Each of these towns retains traces of the agricultural and river life that shaped the region.
The stage ends in Vila Franca de Xira, where the riverside route leads to the historic center. The city maintains its connection to the river and to navigation, bringing together civil and religious heritage such as the Manueline Pillory, the Main Church, the Museum of Neo-Realism and the tile panels of the railway station, symbols of the transition into the heart of the Ribatejo region.
