The route leaves Vila Franca de Xira through the Municipal Garden, following the riverfront area that leads to the Marechal Carmona Bridge. It continues towards Castanheira do Ribatejo and the Carregado irrigation channel, alternating between urban and rural stretches and running alongside the irrigation canals that shape this floodplain landscape.<\/p>\n
After crossing the Carregado irrigation channel, the path passes near the former Thermoelectric Power Plant and several historic estates, such as the Farms of Condessa, Santo Ant\u00f3nio and do Campo.<\/p>\n
Further on, the route passes through Vila Nova da Rainha, where Portugal\u2019s first Military Aviation School was founded in 1916. The town preserves traces of its former river activity and of the port that, for centuries, linked Lisboa to the interior of the country.<\/p>\n
The stage ends in Azambuja, a medieval town with a well-preserved historic center. Among its main points of interest are the Main Church of Nossa Senhora da Assun\u00e7\u00e3o, the Manueline Pillory, the Miseric\u00f3rdia complex and church, and paintings by Sim\u00e3o Rodrigues and Andr\u00e9 Reinoso.
